Common Questions

Questions we get asked

Costs, scheduling, coverage, and how the record is handled.

Does the deposition notice need to specify video?

Yes. Under both the federal and Hawaii rules, the noticing party states the method of recording, so video should be named in the notice. Another party may designate an additional method at their own expense. If video was not in the original notice and you want it, an amended notice or a stipulation handles it.

What does a legal videographer cost in Hawaii?

Videography is billed hourly with a four-hour minimum. Post-production, synchronization, and the authentication package are separate line items. Request the current rate sheet through the scheduling form or by phone.

How much notice do you need?

A day's notice is the practical minimum anywhere in the state.

  • Hawaiʻi Island — home base, Kona to Hilo and everywhere between.
  • Oʻahu — a day or two is comfortable.
  • Maui and Kauaʻi — we fly in the night before, so more lead time is better.

If a date is tight, send it anyway. You will get a yes or no within the hour rather than waiting on a maybe.

Where are you located, and do you charge travel fees?

  • We are on the Big Island and do not charge travel fees for local depositions.
  • For depositions requiring travel to other islands, transportation and parking are billed at cost.
  • For interisland travel, a standard $140 per diem applies.

What is your minimum booking and cancellation policy?

  • All videography services are subject to a four-hour minimum.
  • Any job canceled after 10:00 AM HST the previous business day will incur the four-hour minimum charge, in addition to any expenses already incurred.

When do we get the video?

Tell us your deadline and we work to it. Standard post-production runs three to five business days, and rush, overnight, weekend, and holiday processing is available for a flat fee. Synchronization begins as soon as the certified transcript arrives. Files are delivered on a password-protected link that expires after 60 days.

How do you handle disputes over going off the record?

  • We operate strictly as a neutral party.
  • We will go on the record at the request of any attorney present.
  • We will only stop recording upon the agreement of all counsel present.

How do you ensure the reliability of the video and audio?

  • We mandate a minimum of four microphones for every deposition to capture clear audio.
  • We always back up the official record to at least two separate recording devices in addition to our primary camera.

Can you work with our court reporter or agency?

Yes, constantly. We coordinate with whoever your agency assigns, offer the reporter a direct audio feed if they want one, and hand over a high-fidelity backup audio file at the end of the day. For national agencies we work white-label, on your paperwork and your forms.

Do you cover remote and hybrid depositions?

Yes. We record locally at full resolution rather than relying on a compressed cloud capture, so exhibit text stays readable and the witness stays legible. We feed into the platform your firm already uses, or host the environment ourselves.
