Who is actually behind the camera

Hawaii is not short on people who own a camera. It is short on people who shoot depositions as their full-time trade, and you usually cannot tell which one you booked until the file lands. By then the witness is gone and the room is closed. We arrive early, in professional attire, with equipment chosen for conference rooms rather than events: two cameras, two independent recorders, matched timecode burned in natively, and a clean board mix feeding the record.

Forensic chain of custody (E01)

A common practice is to drag video off the card and reformat it the same afternoon, which destroys the metadata that shows when and how the file was made. We treat the record as forensic evidence. On the day of the proceeding, master media is imaged to the E01 forensic format under write-protection before any post-processing begins, and the imaging tool verifies the image against the source. Every file recovered from that acquisition is hashed individually with SHA-256.

Cryptographic authentication (add-on)

As AI-generated video becomes a real concern in litigation, counsel may need to show a recording has not changed. The authentication package documents that:

• Hashing. Every file carries a SHA-256 value. Any later change, down to a single bit, produces a different hash.
• Public timestamping. On the day of the deposition, those values are anchored in the Bitcoin blockchain using OpenTimestamps. Once anchored, the record is fixed in a permanent public register that anyone can check and no one can alter, including us.
• Signed report. When the package is ordered, the hash values and the block heights at which each timestamp was anchored are compiled into a PDF, signed with a private key held on a hardware YubiKey and executed under penalty of perjury. The key cannot be copied off the device. Acrobat and other readers verify the signature.

Because the timestamps are created on the day of the deposition, ordering the package months later costs you nothing. The evidentiary work is already anchored; the certification is prepared for your specific matter when you need it.

Neutrality on the record

The camera stays rolling until all parties agree to go off the record, however heated the dispute becomes. We do not act on a unilateral demand to cut the feed. Deliverables are processed here, and synchronization is available as soon as the certified transcript arrives.
